Cyber Security in the CONET SOC

Hennef, August 13, 2019. CONET's Security Operation Center (SOC) is ready for operation. From now on, customers of the Hennef-based IT consulting company can obtain extensive managed security services from the CONET SOC. These external security services, such as security monitoring, incident response and reporting, effectively complement customer security measures, increase protection levels and enhance the security of customer systems. CONET had already announced the establishment of its own Security Operation Center in November 2018. After intensive preparations and successful final tests, CONET now supports the onboarding of the first customers.

"Complex threat scenarios make it increasingly difficult to identify risks and attacks with in-house resources alone," explains Jens Kroppmann, Head of IT Security Consulting at CONET. "Using powerful tools and methods in the CONET SOC enables us to detect threats and security incidents in our customer systems more quickly." Security expert Frank Schneider, Director of CONET SOC, adds: "It is often claimed that there cannot be one hundred percent security. While that is basically correct, resistance is possible, nevertheless!"

The monitoring service in the SOC is basically provided by a Security Information and Event Management System (SIEM). A central element in this security monitoring is the netflow analysis of network traffic. Experienced security specialists use the pattern- and anomaly-based analysis to deduct conclusions on unusual and suspicious network activities. Defined workflows ensure that security incidents are detected, validated, correlated, and mitigated through timely and appropriate responses.

At a series of security events, CONET will be presenting its SOC services live over the coming weeks - including PITS - Public IT Security in Berlin and the Internet Security Days (ISD) in Brühl in September, which CONET supports as a Gold Sponsor, as well as on the it-sa, Europe's leading trade fair for IT security in Nuremberg in October. Interested visitors will get a detailed insight into the performance of CONET's managed security services.
